Yano Simulator v0.2.0 Is Here: Faster Simulation, Richer Models, Smoother Workflows
We are excited to announce the release of Yano Simulator v0.2.0—our most substantial update since the initial release.
This version makes Yano Simulator faster, more capable, and easier to use across system dynamics, agent-based, discrete-event, and hybrid modeling workflows.
What’s new
- Native Fast v2 is now the default simulation engine, delivering faster execution, reusable compiled plans, deterministic parallel analysis, memory-saving output capture, resumable runs, and live SyntheSim reruns.

- Model Architecture now supports executable hybrid models combining SD, ABM, and DES components with multiple clocks, typed ports, shared values, events, queues, resources, and processes.

- Agent Modules have been substantially expanded, with formula-first initialization, recurring behavior rules, managed populations, movement, networks, lifecycle events, category quotas, agent histories, movement trails, and individual-agent inspection.

- Array modeling is now significantly more powerful, with saved dimensions, named element sets, relative selectors, ranges, conditional aggregates, explicit broadcasting, per-element equations, and graphical-function editing.
- The Equation editor is more intelligent and inclusive, with multilingual and CJK-friendly input, safer references, bracket matching, built-in function highlighting, and contextual array suggestions syntax.
- New presentation and learning tools include reusable number-to-text mappings, richer Model Details and documentation, animated GIF plot export, improved canvas styling, and a new Schelling segregation tutorial.

A smoother desktop experience
This release also brings many UI and UX improvements. Large projects open and begin simulation more responsively, inspectors and documentation remain usable on complex models, Model Architecture reopens reliably, settings can be restored to confirmed factory defaults, and plot legends, calendar axes, selections, resizing, and exports behave more consistently.
We have also improved multilingual equation authoring, CJK text composition, dark-mode readability, Text Box updates, Agent Module editing, array validation, simulation previews, and update checks.
Whether you are building a classic stock-and-flow model, exploring agent behavior, designing a discrete-event process, or combining methodologies in a hybrid simulation, Yano Simulator v0.2.0 gives you more room to experiment and more confidence in the results.
