Actions, Progress, and Runtime Limits
Action Button Actions
An Action Button contains an ordered list. Use Add Action, duplicate, remove, and drag-and-drop reordering controls in Behavior. At least one action remains.
In Preview, actions run from top to bottom. If an action is invalid, cancelled, or cannot start, execution stops and later actions do not run.
- Simulate starts a normal simulation using current Interface overrides and simulation settings.
- Advance runs the next configured advance segment. Advance Mode must be enabled, the configuration must be valid, no simulation can already be running, and the Native Fast backend is required.
- Pause/Resume toggles the current simulation's paused state. It has no useful effect when no simulation is running.
- Stop cancels the current simulation.
- Reset Controls restores all Interface input overrides to model defaults.
- Toggle Live / SyntheSim enables or disables live simulation. While enabled, eligible input changes schedule a new live run.
- Run Sensitivity runs the selected saved sensitivity analysis. Choose a valid Sensitivity target.
- Run Optimization runs the selected saved optimization analysis. Choose a valid Optimization target.
- Restore Variable Default restores the selected eligible Variable to its model default and can trigger Live / SyntheSim.
- Restore All Input Defaults has the same runtime effect as Reset Controls: all Interface input overrides return to model defaults.
- Navigate to Page changes to the selected Interface Page.
- Open HTML Link opens the entered URL in the system browser. Only valid
httpandhttpslinks are accepted. - Set Run Name prompts for a name. The nonblank name is applied to the next recorded simulation run; it does not rename existing history.
The button label follows its Title. When an automatically generated title is still in use, changing the first action updates that title. A multi-action button with no custom title displays “Actions.”
Diagram Mode
Diagram Mode blocks quantitative actions: Simulate, Advance, Pause/Resume, Stop, Toggle Live / SyntheSim, Run Sensitivity, and Run Optimization. Encountering one of these actions stops the action sequence.
Reset Controls, Restore Variable Default, Restore All Input Defaults, Navigate to Page, Open HTML Link, and Set Run Name remain available.
Progress Control Semantics
Progress Control is an interactive simulation-time playhead:
- Its range is the simulation Start Time through Stop Time.
- It is usable only when the current simulation result contains sample times and the configured time range has positive length.
- The thumb initially follows the current playhead, otherwise the latest result time, otherwise Start Time.
- Dragging snaps to the nearest actual simulation sample time.
- Value, Gauge, and plot displays use the selected playhead time where applicable.
- Horizontal drag moves left to right through time. Vertical drag moves bottom to top.
- Show value can be Always, Never, or As hover tip. The caption uses the simulation time-format setting.
Progress Control does not start, pause, advance, or stop a simulation. It does not represent background job completion. During a running simulation, result updates can move the playhead to the newest sample unless the user is actively scrubbing.
When no usable result exists, the control shows an inactive track and the configured simulation Start Time. There is nothing to scrub until result samples are available.
Input and Display Limits
- Slider, Stepper, and Numeric Input bind only to eligible scalar model inputs.
- Toggle binds only to eligible 0/1 switch inputs.
- Array Input binds only to eligible array inputs.
- Gauge and Value bind to displayable model variables.
- Plot series come from simulation declarations.
- Interface values are overrides; they do not rewrite model equations.
- Min, Max, and Step affect Interface input behavior, not the variable's model definition.
- Runtime input values are clamped to Min/Max and snapped to Step where applicable.
- Invalid or missing bindings show a hint and do not operate.
- Actions requiring a target validate that target at runtime. A missing analysis, optimization, variable, page, or valid URL stops the sequence.
- Simulation actions remain subject to equation validation, backend capability, Advance settings, active-run state, and other simulator rules.
Layout and Presentation Limits
- A page is at least 320 x 240; page font size is 8–96 pt.
- Object frames are at least 6 px wide and 4 px high. Object font overrides are 8–96 pt, border width and corner radius cannot be negative, Slider Width is at least 40 px, and Navigation Tab Spacing is limited to 0–80 px.
- Objects stay within page bounds after committed layout changes.
- Locking prevents direct geometry changes but does not prevent Behavior or appearance edits.
- Preview uses the current page's design size. Resize mode is stored as presentation intent; the editor canvas itself remains based on page width and height.
- Imported controls and plots are added only when eligible source content exists.
- Applying a template replaces the current page's objects.
