Encrypt a model
Choose Enable Encryption and set a strong password. If Touch ID is available, you can enable biometric unlock for the encrypted file on your Mac.
Encrypted projects are saved as .yano packages. Model structure, saved runs, run metadata, imported media, and generated media previews are encrypted independently. XMILE, JSON, and canvas exports are separate outputs and are not protected by the project encryption.
Important safeguards
- Store the password in a trusted password manager.
- Keep a protected backup and test that it opens.
- Do not assume Touch ID replaces the password.
- Share the password through a different channel from the file.
Use Security Settings to change protection options. Use Remove Encryption only when it is acceptable for the next saved model file to contain readable model data.
An incorrect password and a damaged encrypted file can produce the same unlock error. Test a backup before concluding that the password is wrong.
